Michigan Ice Fishing Tournament Series – Rules
Please read all rules carefully to ensure fair play and eligibility for all events.
Event Structure
- There are 3 qualifying events: North, Central, and South.
- The top 10 teams from each event advance to the State Championship.
- 50% of buy-ins paid out at the qualifying event. 50% reserved for the State Championship payout.
- Shotgun start at 7:30 AM, weigh in at 12:30 PM
Teams and Entry
- Teams may consist of 1 or 2 anglers.
- Entry Fee: $200 per team.
- Big bluegill/crappie fee (optional): $20 per team.
- Each angler must have a valid Michigan fishing license.
- Teams may register online to help streamline the checkin-in process at the event.
- Same day registration begins at 6:30 AM.
- Online registration will close the day before the event.
- Entry fees are to be paid in full at check-in/registration before each event. CASH ONLY.
- Teams must bring their fish bucket to registration and recieve a numbered tag for their bucket.
- No refunds.
Fish and Limits
- Only panfish (bluegill, sunfish, crappie) are eligible for weighing.
- All fish must be caught legally during tournament times.
- 10-fish limit per team. MAXIMUM OF 5 CRAPPIES.
- No frozen, iced, or altered fish allowed.
- Tournament director/staff reserves the right to refuse fish that do not follow the above rules.
Weigh In
- Weigh-in opens at 12:30PM
- Buckets must be brought directly from the lake to the designated weigh area.
- Teams must have their buckets to the designated area BY 12:30PM or be disqualified.
- Big bluegill, and big crappie must be tagged with the provided tag.
- Once buckets have been placed in the designated area, teams will not be allowed to touch them until after tournament staff have weighed their fish.
- Heaviest total weight wins.
- Tiebreaker will be determined by heaviest single fish, longest single fish, highest number of bluegills, coin flip.
Safety
- All registered anglers assume the risk that ice fishing presents.
- Michigan Ice Fishing Tournament Series and its affiliates will not be held liable for any injury/death that occurs while traveling to or from an event, or at the event.
- We do our best to provide a safe event, but cannot guarantee that the ice is 100% safe.
- Particapte at your own risk.
By participating, you agree to all rules and acknowledge that tournament officials have final authority in all decisions.
